Surgical Procedures

The eyes can often be one of the first areas to belie your age, particularly the lower eyelid as it begins to droop and sag. Thinning skin and loss of volume results in perpetual dark circles and puffiness that makes you look chronically fatigued. Lower eyelid surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, can directly address these cosmetic concerns, leaving you with a look that is more awake and refreshed.

  • Madnani Facial Plastics is your premier center for surgical and non-surgical facial rejuvenation procedures. Led by board-certified facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon, Dr. Dilip Madnani, the medical professionals at Madnani Facial Plastics are proud to offer cutting-edge cosmetic treatments to men and women in Manhattan, Long Island and the neighboring communities in New York.

About The Procedure

Dr. Madnani typically performs upper eyelid surgery on patients with the following concerns:

  • Small fatty deposits that give a puffy look to upper eyelids
  • Sagging skin that creates excess upper eyelid folds
  • Loose skin that hangs over the eye and interferes with the line of vision

Upper eyelid surgery may be performed alone, but is commonly combined with other cosmetic procedures like lower eyelid surgery and a brow lift to create more dramatic results.

Dr. Madnani routinely performs lower eyelid surgery using local anesthesia. There are a variety of approaches to addressing the lower eyelid depending on whether skin and fat are removed or only fat. Some patients may also require a fat transfer or soft tissue filler injections to smooth out a thinning lower eyelid or laser resurfacing to tighten loose skin.

Post-Procedure discomfort can be satisfactorily managed with oral pain medication. Cool compresses are recommended to alleviate swelling and an ointment may be provided to keep the eye moist during the recovery process.

Most patients are able to return to work after a few days and regular exercise within 14 days after their eyelid surgery. Results of surgery become evident once swelling and bruising subside, which usually occurs within 7-10 days. Eyelid surgery typically offers long-lasting results, eliminating the need for procedures later on for some patients.

If you are unhappy with the appearance of your eyes, Dr. Madnani can help. Through subtle alterations in the lower eyelid, you can achieve a more youthful, refreshed appearance. To learn more about this procedure, contact Dr. Madnani’s office at (332) 216-0176
