Non-Surgical Procedures

Voluma is a new kind of soft tissue filler, with a smoother, thicker formula specifically designed to restore volume for a more youthful facial profile. This injectable treatment is the only hyaluronic acid-based solution approved by the FDA to add volume. The solution is also one of the longest lasting, with results extending up to two years for some patients.

Downtime: 0-3 days

While Voluma may be used off-label to treat a wide range of aging concerns, it is primarily designed to address the following:

  • Apple of the cheeks
  • Upper cheek around the cheekbone
  • Cheek hollow below the cheekbone

Voluma may be used alone, but is frequently combined with other soft tissue fillers to improve the facial profile while smoothing away fine lines and wrinkles. In addition, Voluma may be recommended as a complement to Botox injections or a skin rejuvenation treatment like laser resurfacing.

Voluma injections contain lidocaine to ensure patient comfort throughout the procedure. In addition, injections are administered using a very fine needle so discomfort is kept to a minimum. Voluma treatment takes just a few minutes to complete and patients are able to return to regular activities as soon as the procedure is over.

Results from Voluma can be seen right away, although full results may not be apparent for a week or two. Skin may appear softer, with a more rounded, youthful facial profile. Results from this filler can last up to two years for some patients before a touch-up treatment is needed to maintain results.
