A facelift is a surgical procedure designed to restore a youthful appearance to the face. Also referred to as a rhytidectomy, this procedure effectively removes excess skin and tightens underlying tissue, improving jowls and deep facial creases while restoring a more youthful face and neck profile. Incisions are placed in natural creases in the hairline or around the ear lobe, depending on the specific techniques to be used.
Through the incisions, Dr. Dilip D. Madnani removes excess skin and treats underlying muscles and tissue (SMAS layer) using a variety of techniques, repositioning the underlying muscles and skin structure to achieve a younger, natural look. Skin is repositioned over the new facial contours and excess skin removed before incisions are sutured closed. Facelifts typically take between one to two hours to complete, depending on the number of areas to be addressed.
After the procedure, a dressing is placed which is changed within 24-48 hrs. Discomfort is common for the first day or two and can be managed with oral pain medication. Most patients will experience relief from discomfort within 48 hours. Dr. Dilip D. Madnani’s patients are usually considered presentable and ‘restaurant ready’ 7-10 days after the procedure.

What to know about FaceLift

You have the option of having your facelift under local anesthesia with or without IV sedation.
Surgical incisions for facelifts are usually made in the hairline starting at the temples, continuing down around the front of the ears and ending behind the ears.
A facelift is ideal if you have moderate to severe sagging and or deep facial creases.
Facelift results are permanent in that you’ll always look seven to 10 years younger than if you hadn’t had it done.
